BEHIND THE MAILBOX
Real Mail was sparked by the idea that SOME connectionS SHOULD STILL feel personal, tangible, and worth HOLDING ON TO.
Real Mail began with a need to CONNECT AGAIN.
Hello, I’m Katie. Graphic Designer by trade, but serial creative at heart. After years of corporate work, busy calendars, incessant notifications, and a few too many hours spent staring at screens, I found myself craving something slower and much more human. I needed to make things with my hands again. I wanted to work with paper, ink, texture, scraps, and imperfect materials. I wanted creativity to feel tactile, playful, and alive again.
Real Mail is my way back to that feeling.
At its heart, this project is about creating meaningful objects from materials that might otherwise be discarded, then sending them into the world as small reminders that art, care, and connection still matter. Each piece is designed to feel personal, collectible, or worth holding onto.
But the dream extends far beyond my own work.
Real Mail is also going to be a platform for other artists to share their ideas, tell their stories, and place their work directly into people’s hands. Through artist collaborations, featured editions, mini publications, and handmade mail, the goal is to create new opportunities for artists while building a community rooted in creativity and love.
Every subscription helps move that larger vision forward.
One day, I hope Real Mail will help fund a small farm that can become a creative retreat space that also functions as a rescue shelter and an apiary where artists can connect to nature. A place where animals are cared for, bees are protected, materials are reused, and artists can gather to rest, experiment, collaborate, and make a lot of really rad art together.
Real Mail is more than a happy little something arriving in your mailbox. It is the beginning of a slower, kinder, more connected way of living.
